But, first what is a resume or CV? Both documents are used for job applications.

UPDATED: An updated version of this post looks at how you can write a CV that delivers scores for the job for you. It provides detailed information on writing a CV to get shortlisted for an Interview and taking control of your first interview. Read it here

Tips for writing a Killer Resume

The three differences are:
  • Length,
  • Purpose and
  • Layout
A resume is short usually 1 to 2 pages, concise and laid out with bullet points. Whereas CV can span up to 3 or 4 pages, detailed.

In a good number of PNG job vacancies, the employers specify the number of pages.

If the employers (recruitment agents) ask for 1 or 2 pages they are probably asking for your resume, instead of a CV.

IMPORTANT: Ensure only details relevant to the job you are applying for are included: must be condensed, concise and informative.

Use Google's Find-My-Device to Find Your Lost or Stolen Phone Without App

Have you ever had a stressful time when your phone is on silent mode and you can't find it? Even worst, someone stole your phone and you felt as if the world is ending?

The good news is that you can find your phone even if it's in silent mode. Better still, you can delete everything on your phone remotely, and lock it dead.  But there are certain things that you should do immediately to find or lock your smartphone.

Here are the three functions and how to connect your phone using your Gmail.

How to use Find-My-Device (FMD)

Google makes it so easy to find your smartphone when you lose it, regardless of the make or brand of your android device.

Firstly, connect your android phone to Google's FMD. Here is how to do it:
1) Visit  https://www.google.com/android/find
2) Enter your Gmail o phone number to connect to FMD
3) Follow the prompt and complete the connection

Once your phone to set up to FMD, you can call up the 3 functions below when you need them.

How to find a lost phone - use 'Play Sound'

Use the 'Play Sound' function on Find-My-Device to find your phone if you misplace it or lost it somewhere near you.

All you need is another smartphone, PC or lab top. You must use the Gmail that you used to connect your phone to FMD.

You'll hear a high-ping sound, even if your phone is on silent mode. The ping will go on for 5 minutes, if you cannot find it you can ping it again.

Once you've found your phone, press the power key to stop the sound.

Can't find it? Secure your phone to protect your data. Try the next function.

Use 'Secure Device' to lock a lost phone, remotely

You must sign in to your Google Account to lock the device, there is no need to download any mobile apps or applications onto your device.

Click on the 'Secure Device' tab, and add a message and optional phone number so that anyone who finds your device can contact you.

Then hit 'Secure Device' and log out of your Google Account. This action will secure your device.

More so, if you want to completely delete all the data, files and apps on the lost/stole device, use the last option.

How to erase phone data permanently from a stolen phone

Using the 'Erase Device; option will delete all the data permanently from this device. After your device has been erased, you can’t locate it.

If your device is offline, erasing will begin when it next comes online.

To erase your device, you may need to sign in to your Google Account again.

What you need for Find-My-Device to work

To find, lock, or erase an Android device, it must be:
  • turned on.
  • signed in to a Google Account.
  • connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi.

You do not have to worry if your phone is on silent mode or the location is turned off. It will still work.

Why it's important to use Find-My-Device?

Here is a Google Find-My-Device instructional video on how to find your device if it is lost, misplaced or stolen.

Check out PNG Insight on YouTube & Subscribe.

The important thing is to act quickly if you want to find your device.

If your smartphone is stolen, it may mean that all your passwords, login and authentication apps are under someone else's control. You will have to delete the data, files and apps, so act quickly and swiftly.

Working holiday visa Australia 2023

This post aims to help those who a looking for a working holiday visa for Australia in 2023, including others who are intending to obtain an Australian tourist visa for a short stay.

I share this experience I share to help others. In fact, I was very annoyed when I started the application.

working holiday visa australia 2023

Two things went wrong.

First, I realized that the whole application process changed, it was not like before when you submit the visa applications at the Australian High Commission’s office in your country, manually. The visa submission process was left in hands of agents. You have to go to an agent to get it sorted for you.

Second, you have to do it yourself online.

The online working holiday visa Australia 2023 application was easy, but you must connect to wireless internet. I’ve tried in vain for two straight days though I had all the required and recommended papers. Simply because a major Internet connection was not good where I was. If your internet connection is good, you should do it online.

Applying to the agent means that you will have to go to the agents.

I completed the application form – form 1419.

In addition, I had less than 10 working days to get a visa before leaving on a booked flight. It was stressful. Sounds all too familiar?

So how did I, finally, submit my application?

To make it clear I have not got a visa yet. The decision to grant me a visa is out of my control having applied, I am writing in waiting.

Let me answer the question. The ‘break-through’ came when a friend mentioned that I could use a mobile phone as a router (or Internet Access Point).

So, I did and submitted my application online. Get a data bundle (60MB) to upload all the documents.

Here is the link to a step-by-step guide on how to connect your mobile phone and laptop. So you can do that anywhere in PNG. It takes up to 10 working days to get a response. If you haven’t got one after that period, give them a follow-up call.

There is a list of required documents you must produce. The common documents are a passport photo (doesn’t have to be signed), a copy of the passport biography page, a bank statement, Form 54 Family Composition, etc.

I would recommend using the online application. It costs Au$136.46. For fees and charges information, refer to www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees. Costs at the agents are indicated in the image above.

A 300MB of mobile data would be enough to launch your application online.

Important tips/docs for online application:

-Create an account https://online.immi.gov.au/ola/app
-Ensure that all your documents are less than 5MB before uploading
-Passport page/s
-Passport photo, taken in the last 6 months
-Bank statements
-Evidence of assets in the country of residence. E.g. recent share value cert.
-Family Composition (Form 54)
-Checklist PDF
